Whether you are a complete beginner or just looking to try something new, this hands-on session will give you a taste of traditional or modern upholstery techniques in a relaxed and friendly environment.

What You’ll Learn

  • An introduction to essential upholstery tools and materials

  • How to strip and prepare a small piece of furniture

  • Modern upholstery techniques including application of foam, wadding, fabric & trims

  • An introduction to traditional techniques where appropriate to your project

  • Finishing techniques for a professional result

What to bring

  • A small, manageable project such as a dining chair seat, drop-in seat or small footstool — please check with us beforehand if you’re unsure whether your piece is suitable

  • Top fabric to finish your piece

  • Suitable clothing and sensible footwear

Most modern projects can be completed within the day, and very small traditional projects may also be suitable. Traditional upholstery is a slower, more involved process, so some pieces will need further sessions to complete. Monday Upholstery Club

Monday Upholstery Club (weekly - next block starts Monday 7th September)

Our Monday Upholstery Club is a relaxed, friendly session for anyone who would like more time to work on their own upholstery project, whether you are continuing something started on one of our workshops or bringing along a new piece.

The afternoon sessions run from 1.30–4.30pm, morning sessions 9.30 - 12.30 also an option depending on numbers.

If there is not a full day workshop that works for you we can incorporate the Monday Club to create a one off one day workshop around you (dependant on availability - do ask)

You can work at your own pace with guidance and tuition throughout. Projects can be modern or traditional, from simple chairs and footstools to larger, more involved pieces.

The club is also a great next step if you have completed a one-day taster workshop and would like to continue your project, or if you want to build your confidence and skills over a longer period.

  • Small group tuition and individual guidance
